Quick breakdown
Hagans played five seasons at Duke and has been a regular contributor on offense for four of those years, totaling at least 49 targets each season, including 75 in 2024 and 64 this past year. Hagans’ most productive season was in 2025 when he totaled 501 receiving yards, averaging 11.7 yards per catch with six touchdowns. Most of his snaps have come lined up outside, but he has slot experience as well.
Hagans brings some special teams experience to the NFL, playing nearly 400 snaps at the college level, which includes handling some kick return duties.
“In 2025, Hagans was the recipient of the team’s Duke Tough Award, presented annually to the student-athlete who personifies the physical and mental toughness required to be a Blue Devil,” it said on the Duke football site. “He was also named the squad’s Special Teams Most Valuable Player.”
Sahmir Hagans’ athletic profile
Mir Hagans is a WR prospect in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 7.32 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 1122 out of 4190 WR from 1987 to 2026.https://t.co/fSoa4PEl8Spic.twitter.com/tZBH7RPd4s

Can Sahmir Hagans make a roster push with the Colts?
While the depth chart behind Alec Pierce and Josh Downs still has to shake out, it is a fairly crowded wide receiver room at the moment, with Ashton Dulin, Deion Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Anthony Gould, and Laquon Treadwell all looking to carve out roles. This crowded room will make it difficult for any UDFA to make the final 53-man roster. Along with standing out offensively throughout training camp, the ability to help on special teams will likely be an important part of the evaluation process for the UDFAs as well.
