Head coach Will Wade continues to build out his roster for LSU men’s basketball. According to a confirmed report by Jeff Goodman on Tuesday, six-foot-six forward Saliou Niang signed with the Tigers.
The 22-year-old Italian was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers at No. 58 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. Niang signed with Virtus Bologna in Italy, part of the EuroLeague and Italian Lega Basket Series A, last season. The Cavaliers retained his rights but allowed him to play oversees. He hasn’t signed an NBA contract and hasn’t appeared inna NBA game.
Niang averaged 7.1 points, five rebounds and 1.9 assists per game with Virtus Bologna. Through three games in the 2025 NBA summer league, he averaged 7.7 points and 6.7 rebounds.

The signing of Niang marks the second time a former Euroleauge player and NBA draftee joined the Tigers the offseason. He follows Marcio Santos, a six-foot-nine center who played in 37 games with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
