Robert McCray V’s NBA dream is one step closer to reality. The former Florida State guard has been invited to a pre-draft workout with the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, according to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points.
It gives the Columbia, S.C. native a direct audition with one of the league’s most prominent franchises ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft on June 23-24.
McCray is widely considered the most NBA-ready of FSU’s 2025-26 senior class. NBA teams are constantly looking for scoring point guards, and McCray was one of the ACC’s most dynamic creators this season — combining scoring instincts with playmaking ability that gives him a legitimate two-way profile at the next level.
The numbers back up the interest. McCray averaged 16.33 points, 6.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game across the 2025-26 season. He earned 2026 All-ACC Third Team honors and 2026 All-ACC Tournament First Team recognition, capping a senior season that included some of the program’s most memorable individual performances in recent memory.
The Warriors enter the 2026 draft with specific needs at the guard and ball-handling positions, seeking a scorer and playmaker capable of providing a spark in non-Stephen Curry minutes — a profile that maps directly onto what McCray demonstrated throughout his senior campaign in Tallahassee. McCray was also invited to the G-League combine earlier this offseason, giving him multiple high-profile evaluation opportunities before draft night arrives.
Wednesday’s workout represents the latest and most significant step in a pre-draft process that has validated what FSU fans watched all season long: that Robert McCray V is a legitimate professional prospect, and the Warriors want to find out exactly how good he can be.
The Warriors will have a pre-draft workout with the following on Wednesday:
Maliq Brown — Duke
Ryan Conwell — Louisville
Ja’Kobi Gillespie — Tennessee
Rob McCray — Florida State
Emanuel Sharp — Houston
Ernest Udeh — Miami— Brett Siegel (@BrettSiegelNBA) May 19, 2026
