The Atlanta Braves have started the season on the right foot, which was the main goal after never truly getting going during the 2025 season. However, no one expected the Braves to get off to a league-leading 33 wins.

They have accomplished this despite dealing with injuries while also playing elite baseball. If there is still one area that could use another addition, it is the outfield.

“But none of these guys are everyday starters for a reason. Each has clear limitations, whether it’s a devastating platoon split (Yaz), more value as a utility defender (Dubón), or a lack of offensive consistency in their careers (White),” Braves Today’s Lindsay Crosby wrote.

If the Braves are going to add another outfield piece, it will likely need to be someone capable of being an everyday starter. There have been recent rumblings that hometown star Byron Buxton could be a perfect candidate. MLB insider Buster Olney believes Buxton to Atlanta is a real possibility.

“I think that at some point the name of Byron Buxton is gonna come up for the Atlanta Braves… he is a perfect fit for what they have… you throw Buxton into that mix that they have right now — wow,” Olney said.

The offseason in Minnesota was reportedly frustrating for Buxton, as the organization was not keeping him informed on several matters. That reportedly created some tension between the Twins and their franchise player.

“It’s been months of upheavals for the Minnesota Twins and, because of roster changes, turnover in the dugout and front office, and an uncertain commitment level from ownership, the future is uncertain. That uncertainty hasn’t sat well with franchise cornerstone Byron Buxton, especially insofar as his future with the Twins is concerned,” CBS Sports’ Dayn Perry wrote.

Atlanta adding Buxton would give the Braves an outfield consisting of Ronald Acuña Jr., Michael Harris II, and Byron Buxton. On days when Acuña needs rest, Buxton could easily slide over to right field.

There would be a lot of flexibility for Atlanta if it were able to land someone like Buxton at the trade deadline. Buxton is currently on a $100 million deal. The Braves’ offense and defense would both improve tremendously. Buxton is an All-Star, a Gold Glove winner, and a Silver Slugger recipient.
