Chicago Bears host veteran CB Sam Webb for tryout

The Chicago Bears hosted veteran cornerback Sam Webb for a tryout on Wednesday, according to Aaron Wilson. Webb also recently worked out for the New York Giants.

Webb signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2022, and he spent his first three seasons with the Raiders before stops with the Carolina Panthers (2023), Tennessee Titans (2025) and Cleveland Browns (2025). Webb has spent his NFL career primarily on the practice squad in the last four seasons.

This news comes just one day after Chicago hosted former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Nazeeh Johnson at Halas Hall on Tuesday. So it’s clear that general manager Ryan Poles is doing his due diligence to improve the roster this offseason.

The Bears released former fifth-round cornerback Zah Frazier earlier this offseason. Frazier missed his entire season due to an undisclosed personal issue, and the team couldn’t make it work this offseason. While Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, Tyrique Stevenson and rookie Malik Muhammad are expected to anchor the cornerback room, it never hurts to invest in depth at a key position, especially amid the injuries they faced last season.
