It’s tournament time for Big Ten baseball, with 12 teams gathered in Omaha to play for a trophy ahead of NCAA tournament selection next week.
The conference has been incredibly top-heavy this year, with consensus national No. 1 UCLA the clear class of the field after setting a conference record with 28 Big Ten wins. Nebraska sits a notch below them as a formidable threat, followed by a tight group of highly competitive teams battling it out in the middle of the pack.
The top of the bracket features heavy hitters, with the top-seeded Bruins and the No. 2 seed Cornhuskers entering as the clear favorites to meet in the final. Nebraska will look to defend their crown on familiar regional turf, while UCLA aims to translate its historic regular-season dominance into its first Big Ten tournament title since joining the conference.
The next tier of true contenders includes Oregon and USC, who round out the top four seeds and have earned automatic byes past the opening phase straight into Friday’s single-elimination quarterfinals. But strange things have been known to happen in postseason baseball, and with a brand-new tournament format, the Big Ten is ripe for chaos.
Here’s everything you need to know to tune in to every game this week.
