Longtime Colorado State softball coach Jen Fisher is retiring.
Fisher led the Rams for the last 16 years, leading CSU to the 2019 Mountain West regular season title.
The two-time Mountain West Coach of the Year has the most wins in program history with 376. She announced her retirement on May 20.
“The past 16 years coaching the team in my hometown have been incredible. Fort Collins is such a special place to me,” Fisher said in a news release. “I will greatly miss coaching softball and these amazing athletes, as they have allowed me to bring my passion and energy to the field each day. This has kept me young and made me feel as though my job was not really ‘work’ but rather a calling. I will also deeply miss all the incredible folks in the department & across campus whom I had the honor of working with each day.”
Fisher, who is from Fort Collins and is a CSU graduate, helped coach two Mountain West Player of the Year selections. She led CSU to the 2019 NCAA Tournament, which was the first NCAA Tournament for the Rams since 2003.
Fisher’s retirement comes after the 2026 season where the Rams went 23-28 and 11-14 in Mountain West play to finish sixth in the conference. CSU lost in the first-round of the Mountain West season.
The Rams will be in the Pac-12 next season under a new coach.
“CSU will immediately begin a nationwide search for the next head softball coach,” per a news release from the school.
