One of the Boston Red Sox’s top prospects pitched a gem in the minor leagues as he set a career high in Triple-A.

The Red Sox’s No. 6 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, Jake Bennett, made a start in Triple-A on Wednesday and dominated as he recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts. He finished the game going five innings, allowing one run on seven hits, and 11 strikeouts. It was another stellar outing from Bennett, as the left-hander is now 2-2 with a 1.84 ERA in seven starts.

Bennett has gotten onto the Red Sox’s radar, as he made two starts earlier this year in the MLB, going 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA over 10.1 innings.

If Bennett can continue to have success in Triple-A, he will give Boston some more starting pitching depth and another left-hander in the system.

The Red Sox acquired Bennett back in December from the Washington Nationals in exchange for pitching prospect Luis Perales. It was a unique prospect-for-prospect swap, and Bennett looks to be the real deal as he’s been dominating Triple-A, and could get another look in the MLB soon.

Washington originally selected Bennett in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft. The 25-year-old made his MLB debut on May 1 against the Houston Astros and got the win as he allowed five hits and one run in five innings.
