Barcelona youngster Hamza Abdelkarim has been handed a call-up to the Egypt squad for World Cup 2026.
The Barcelona Atletic forward only arrived in Catalunya in the winter transfer window and is now celebrating being included in the Pharoahs’ roster for this summer’s tournament. Abdelkarim will also become the first Egyptian Blaugrana to play at a World Cup.
Barcelona signed Abdelkarim on loan from Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly and are expected to make the move permanent in the summer.
The youngster has already caught the eye at Barca, scoring a hat-trick for Juvenil A in a 9-0 win over UD Montecarlo that also sealed the title for the team.
There’s speculation already that he could get a chance to impress Hansi Flick in pre-season ahead of the new campaign, particularly if he impresses at the World Cup.
Egypt have been drawn in Group G and will face Belgium, New Zealand and Iran for a place in the knockout phase of the tournament.
Good luck, Hamza Abdelkarim!
