The Louisville football team experienced a large amount of turnover during the offseason, losing 18 full-time starters.
The Cardinals made up for it with a strong transfer portal haul, with many of the newcomers expected to take the vacant starting spots. Lincoln Kienholz has cemented his spot as the Cardinals’ next starting quarterback and will benefit from having running back Isaac Brown returning. Defensive lineman Clev Lubin, cornerback Tayon Holloway, linebacker Stanquan Clark and linebacker/safety Antonio Watts are the building blocks for a defense that will have to replace seven starters with new co-defensive coordinators Mark Ivey and Steve Ellis leading the unit.
Louisville has already completed spring practices and will have the summer and fall camp to solidify its starting cast ahead of its 2026 opener against Ole Miss.
