Liverpool are set to sign Atletico Nacional teenage sensation Samuel Martinez, according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra. Liverpool want to prepare for the future and the Anfield club have been going after youth players. While Martinez will not be linking up with Arne Slot’s Reds this summer, pipping the likes of Arsenal and others to the services of the 17-year-old is huge. An agreement worth around £750,000 has been struck and the midfielder will sign a five-year deal.
Talks are now at an advanced stage as Liverpool look to make things official, with Martinez set to move to Merseyside when he is 18. His technicality and ability in the final third are some of the qualities which attracted the Reds to the teenager. Martinez can play as a box-to-box midfielder and Liverpool will hope he can break into their first-team in the future. He is likely to be sent out on loan when he moves to the Anfield club in the summer of 2027.
Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica have also all scouted the young playmaker, but it is Liverpool who are expected to sign him.
