Seton Hall basketball adds transfer center Abdulai Fanta Kabba

Seton Hall basketball’s search for size has brought in a big transfer.

Very big.

Abdulai Fanta Kabba, a 7-foot, 235-pound center from Western Carolina University, has committed. Here are three things to know about the rising junior.

1. He has a 7-foot-5 wingspan

Born in Sierra Leone, Kabba played his first collegiate season at Denver in 2024-25. After missing the nonconference portion of the schedule due to an unspecified lower-body injury, he averaged 4.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 3.4 fouls in 17 minutes per game.

This past season at Western Carolina, he averaged 4.7 points, 5.8 rebounds (including 2.8 offensive), 0.9 blocks and 2.8 fouls in 17 minutes per game as the Catamounts finished 15-16 overall and 10-8 in the Southern Conference. He split time in the post, starting 17 contests.

Kabba put up solid numbers some blowout losses against quality competition in 2025-27:

10 points, 7 rebounds vs. Duke

8 points, 9 rebounds (four offensive) vs. High Point

5 points, 6 rebounds vs. Virginia Tech

4 points, 7 rebounds vs. Georgia

He also averaged 4.2 fouls in those four games.

2. His shooting splits are eye-opening

Over two collegiate seasons, Kabba is shooting 65.8 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from the free-throw line (19 of 65). He never has attempted a 3-pointer.

Clearly he’s a lob-finisher, put-back guy on the offensive end.

3. He joins Devin Williams in the Hall’s post

Hall coach Shaheen Holloway likes to platoon in the post, and the recently committed 6-foot-10 Williams is a wiry rim protector. Kabba projects to be a bulkier complement.

That bulk is crucial. Williams and fellow frontcourt transfer Chris Nwuli both are listed at 205 pounds. The Pirates’ fourth incoming frontcourt player, Brazilian Nathan Mariano, is 211 pounds.

More heft is going to be needed. Last season, for example, the Pirates’ frontcourt included 265-pound Najai Hines, 230-pound Stephon Payne, 225-pound Godswill Erheriene, 225-pound Josh Rivera and 220-pound Elijah Fisher. With four roster openings remaining, expect that to be a focus.

Seton Hall’s projected 2026-27 depth chart

Guards (6): Del Jones, Trey Parker, Simeon Wilcher, Kareem Thomas, Roddie Anderson, Darien ‘Payday’ Moore.

Wings (2): Rodney Brown, Mayar Wol.

Bigs (4): Devin Williams, Abdulai Fanta Kabba, Nathan Mariano, Chris Nwuli.
