The opportunity to advance to the program’s first SEC Tournament semifinal since 2023 is on the line for Texas A&M baseball, as they face the Auburn Tigers in Hoover, Ala., at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium on Friday night.
Auburn earned its way into the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over LSU on Wednesday night, while the Aggies earned a double-bye for finishing the regular season with an 18-11 record in SEC play and third place in the conference standings. Friday’s meeting marks the fourth contest between the two teams, after the Tigers captured a 2-1 series win in Bryan-College Station at the beginning of May. That slate included an 18-5 run-rule win for Auburn in the opening contest.
It is unknown which pitcher each team will pitch for this massive showdown at the Hoover Met. For Texas A&M, possibilities include Ethan Darden, Weston Moss and Shane Sdao, but exclude Aiden Sims, who will not play in the SEC Tournament, according to head coach Michael Earley. The Aggie pitching staff will face a Tiger lineup that ranks fourth in batting average in the conference to this point. Meanwhile, Auburn’s pitching staff has been one of the most dominant groups in the SEC, ranking first with a 3.55 team ERA and 1.18 WHIP.
