Class of 2027 athlete Bode Sparrow narrows to top four

Four-star athlete Bode Sparrow placed Oklahoma in his top four on Friday, just ahead of official visit season.

Sparrow, the No. 1-ranked player in the state of Utah, picked his home state’s two most successful FBS schools – Utah and Brigham Young – alongside Oregon and Oklahoma as finalists. Sparrow’s visit to OU is scheduled first, next week, on Friday, May 29. He’ll follow with trips to Eugene, Salt Lake City and Provo, in that order, each subsequent Friday in June.

If he chose Oklahoma, Sparrow would be the fifth-ranked player in the Class of 2027, a group that already ranks as the No. 2 recruiting class in the country. He’s rated at the No. 69 player in the whole country in the class and No. 4 athlete in the class based off 247Sports’ composite rankings. Sparrow projects as either a wide receiver or a defensive back at the college level, though most schools have seemed to have been recruiting him on the defensive side.

Sooners coach Brent Venables has already landed four-star cornerback Mikhail McCreary and four-star wide receiver Demare Dezeurn in the class. Sparrow would rank only behind offensive lineman Kaeden Perry (No. 21), offensive lineman Cooper Hackett (No. 41), linebacker Cooper Witten (No. 46) and tight end Seneca Driver (No. 62) in Oklahoma’s 2027 class.

OU is coming off a College Football Playoff season. The Sooners made it to the expanded playoff for the first time since the field expanded and are expected to compete for such a spot again in 2026.
