Thomas Tuchel explains Cole Palmer World Cup omission
Many were surprised to see Palmer left out, given what he can produce, and the impact he had at Euro 2024 from the bench.
It’s been a difficult season for Palmer, and he missed almost the entirety of the first half of the campaign with a troublesome groin injury.
Palmer returned to action in December against Leeds, but outside a couple of moments , he’s not produced anywhere near the performance levels he’s capable of.
The 24-year-old has scored nine goals in the league this season, but failed to impress in two friendlies during the March international break.
Calum McFarlane believes Palmer can turn his omission into a positive, and Tuchel has explained why he left him out.
“I think he suffers from a lack of individual form within the club,” he said as quoted on X.com.
“He was not as decisive or as influential as he was in the last seasons, throughout the whole season.
“Second of all, he was not very influential with us. His record with us was just not outstanding, not good enough to make him ‘no matter what, he is coming’.”
