At this point, it’s safe to say that Lane Kiffin is stockpiling assets. The reasoning? That much is unclear.
On Friday night, news came out that the LSU Tigers signed yet another quarterback to the roster, adding former Middle Tennessee State QB Kaden Martin via the transfer portal. Martin is the fourth QB to sign with the Tigers via the portal this offseason, joining Arizona State‘s Sam Leavitt, USC’s Husan Longstreet, and Elon’s Landon Clark.
To say that the room in Baton Rouge is crowded would be an understatement. Is this the latest addition for depth, or could there be potential concerns? At this point, it’s far too early to know, as Leavitt continues to recover from his foot injury suffered in September of last year.
The latest update we got from Kiffin regarding Leavitt’s timeline is that he should be ready to do “full summer stuff” this offseason.

Still, adding a veteran like Martin to the room can’t hurt. He originally committed to the Miami Hurricanes as a 3-star prospect out of high school, but transferred to East Tennessee State after dabbling in baseball. After a year off from football, Martin got back on the gridiron, transferring to Middle Tennessee State, but did not see any action in 2025.
He will have one year of eligibility remaining with LSU this season.
