What Oklahoma State’s manager said after losing to Nebraska softball

Oklahoma State head coach Kenny Gajewski met with the media following his team’s 9-1 loss to Nebraska in the NCAA Softball Super Regional. The Huskers advanced to the Women’s College World Series for the ninth time in program history and for the first time since 2013.

The Cowgirls finished 2026 with a 41-17 record and clinched OSU’s sixth super regional appearance in the last seven years. This is the second consecutive year that OSU did not qualify for the WCWS after making it to Oklahoma City for four straight seasons.

Kenny Gajewski has been the head coach at Oklahoma State since 2016 and, in that time, has a record of 441-185. He has taken the Cowgirls to the WCWS five times and won the Big 12 tournament title once. Gajewski met with the media following the loss and had nothing but high praise for the Huskers.

They’ve got a lot going (for them). They’re athletic up and down the lineup. They can pop a home run here and there. They’re just tough. They take (head coach) Rhonda’s (Rovelle) personality and Jordy’s (Frahm). They just run, and it’s fun to watch them. It’s not fun to be on the other side but it is fun to watch them.

Nebraska improved to 51-6 on the season, one win shy of the school record (52 victories – 2000). The Huskers finished the 2026 season with a 20-1 home record, tied for the most in team history.

The nine runs scored were the most ever by a Nebraska team in an NCAA Super Regional game. It was also the Huskers’ 14th run-rule victory of the season.

Nebraska will face the Arkansas Razorbacks in the WCWS on Thursday, May 28. Start time and television information are TBD.
