Jelena Ostapenko has recently stunned the audience with her recent comment about potentially competing against Iga Swiatek in the French Open. She is currently gearing up for her opening round of the tournament.

Ostapenko was last seen in action at the Italian Open, where she bested top-notch players, including Qinwen Zheng, Anna Kalinskaya, and more, to advance to the quarterfinals. Here, she faced Sorana Cristea, who dashed the Latvian’s hope of winning the title by claiming a 6-1, 7-6(0) victory. Following this upset, she is now scheduled to compete against Ella Seidel in the opening round of Rolland Garros.

With her French Open campaign about to start, her fans are excited for her potential matchup against Iga Swiatek. Ostapenko holds a perfect 6-0 head-to-head record against the Pole, and they are now predicted to compete against each other in the third round. Amid this, one of the world No. 29’s fan, slid into the player’s DMs and urged her to beat the Pole for the seventh time.

“Hey Jelena, just saw the draw! Please beat Iga in the third round for seventh time😂😂!! No offense!!” the text read.

The Latvian player stirred the pot before the potential matchup with her response that read:

Ostapenko’s response

Jelena Ostapenko recalled the feelings of winning her first French Open title

Jelena Ostapenko won her French Open title in 2017 by getting the better of Simona Halep in the women’s singles final. With this win, she became the first unseeded woman to win the French Open since 1933. She recently recalled this victory during her media conversation at the Italian Open. When asked about what she would say that 19-year-old Ostapenko should expect in the wake of becoming a Grand Slam champion as a teenager.

Responding to this, she said:

“I feel like it took me like so much time to to adapt to all those conditions that everything changed. So, I don’t know what I would said, but I wish I could have handled it better when I was the younger because I feel like if it was like a few years later I won a grand slam, I would handle it way better than when I won it at the age of 19. I think it was very early age for me,” said Jelena Ostapenko.

She added:

“I mean, the the whole life changed. You know, everyone expects you to win every single tournament, every single match, and the attention you get. On the one side, it’s nice, but on the other side, you have to still practice and do all your things, you know, and uh to keep the level there, but I feel I was like uh it was a lot of pressure from like everywhere.”
