Felix Rosenqvist ‘not really thinking about Detroit.’ How past Indy 500 winners fare in next race

INDIANAPOLIS — Felix Rosenqvist had one of the fastest cars throughout the Month of May, and got on the high line to continue his momentum to win the 110th Indianapolis 500.

He edged David Malukas by .023 for the closest finish in Indy 500 history. It gave Meyer Shank Racing its second win as a team, also in the 500 with Helio Castroneves, now part owner, in 2021. And it was the second win of the Swedish Rosenqvist’s career.

Rosenqvist, 34, mentioned he was going to watch his last-lap shootout pass on the front stretch hundreds of times, and did during his news conference as it replayed in the media center. He was asked about it, the emotion, how it happened, and what’s next — the Detroit Grand Prix five days from practice and a week from racing.

“I’m not really thinking about Detroit right now,” Rosenqvist said with a laugh.
