The Western Conference Finals are even. Victor Wembanyama, unsurprisingly, is a major reason why.

The All-NBA big man exploded for 22 points in the first half of Game 4 and kept his foot on the gas out of halftime, powering the Spurs to a lead that would become insurmountable for the reigning champion Thunder.

Sunday’s game wasn’t an elimination game for San Antonio, but Wembanyama undoubtedly knew the stakes. Needing to win three consecutive games against the Thunder, including two on the road, might be too much for any team to overcome. By holding serve Sunday night, the Spurs ensured the series will return to San Antonio for a Game 6.

Here’s a look at Wembanyama’s big night in the Spurs’ Game 4 win.

Wembanyama played like a superstar in Game 4, finishing the night with 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 31 minutes of action. He finished a team-high +29 in the win, shooting 11-of-22 from the field and avoiding foul trouble with only two calls going against him.

The performance was needed by the Spurs, as Wembanyama was more pedestrian by his standards in each of San Antonio’s losses in this series. The third-year star was held below his season average with 21 points in Game 2, and he only finished with four rebounds and two blocks in Game 3 despite 26 points.

Wembanyama was more aggressive early on in Game 4, attempting more shots in the first half than he did in all of Game 3. The last of those first-half shots was a beauty, as he sank a buzzer-beater from half-court just before the break.

Wembanyama is now averaging 30.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game through four Western Conference Finals games.
