Eagles’ biggest question at each offensive position ahead of OTAs

The Philadelphia Eagles officially enter the OTA portion of the offseason this week, and while spring practices never provide all the answers, they often reveal where the biggest storylines are developing. Philadelphia spent the offseason reshaping portions of the offense while adding youth, depth, and long-term developmental pieces through the draft and free agency. Some positions appear stable. Others suddenly carry major intrigue heading into the summer.

Here’s the biggest question facing every offensive position entering Eagles OTAs.

Quarterback: Can Jalen Hurts thrive under another new offensive structure?

This conversation begins and ends with Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia once again enters a season with Hurts learning new voices, new terminology, and a slightly different offensive approach after another coaching shakeup. The Eagles are hoping Sean Mannion, Josh Grizzard, and Jerrod Johnson can stabilize things after an uneven 2025 offensive season. The talent is obvious. The leadership remains unquestioned internally. Still, Hurts enters another offseason needing to quickly build chemistry and trust within a newly configured offensive structure.

Behind him, Tanner McKee, Andy Dalton, and rookie Cole Payton create one of the deepest quarterback rooms Philadelphia has carried in years.

Running back: How will touches be distributed behind Saquon Barkley?

Saquon Barkley remains the featured centerpiece after another 1,000-yard season, but the depth behind him suddenly feels crowded and competitive. Tank Bigsby flashed explosiveness in limited work. Will Shipley needs momentum after an uneven rookie year. Dameon Pierce arrives looking to revive his career after falling out of favor in Houston.

The Eagles clearly want more physical depth in the backfield. OTAs should begin revealing which complementary skill sets the coaching staff values most behind Barkley.

Wide receiver: What exactly will this room look like after June 1?

No position carries more uncertainty than wide receiver.

The constant speculation surrounding A.J. Brown continues to hover over the franchise, while Philadelphia aggressively reshaped the room by adding Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore.

That creates one massive OTA question: What will the pecking order actually become?

Lemon appears destined for an immediate role. Wicks and Moore bring versatility. Johnny Wilson is attempting to regain lost momentum after an injury. Darius Cooper’s 53-man roster status suddenly looks far more difficult.

This position room could look dramatically different by training camp.

Tight end: Is Eli Stowers already the future?

Dallas Goedert remains productive and reliable, but Philadelphia drafting Eli Stowers in the second round made one thing obvious: succession planning has officially begun. The biggest OTA storyline at tight end revolves around how quickly Stowers acclimates to the offense and how heavily the Eagles involve him immediately.

Philadelphia clearly believes his athleticism can add another explosive element to the passing game. Meanwhile, Grant Calcaterra, Stone Smartt, Johnny Mundt, and Cameron Latu are all battling for specialized depth roles.

Offensive line: Can the Eagles maintain elite play without Jeff Stoutland?

For over a decade, offensive line dominance became synonymous with Philadelphia football. Now comes the unfamiliar part. Jeff Stoutland is gone, and new offensive line coach Chris Kuper inherits one of the league’s most scrutinized position groups. The Eagles still possess elite foundational pieces in Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens, Landon Dickerson, and Lane Johnson.

But there are legitimate concerns.

Johnson turns 35. Dickerson regressed slightly in pass protection last season. Tyler Steen still must fully solidify himself at right guard. Philadelphia also needs younger developmental linemen like Markel Bell, Myles Hinton, Cameron Williams, and Drew Kendall to begin emerging.

The Eagles still look talented up front.

The question now is whether the standard remains elite during the first post-Stoutland chapter.
