The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 delivered the kind of finish fans dream about, with Felix Rosenqvist pulling off an insane last-gasp pass to win the race by the narrowest margin ever recorded at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Meyer Shank Racing driver crossed the line just 0.0233 seconds ahead of Team Penske’s David Malukas after a frantic green-white-checkered restart turned the closing lap into an all-out sprint to the finish.
Rosenqvist restarted third for the final lap shootout, sandwiched between teammate Marcus Armstrong and Malukas. What followed was one of the most audacious closing laps the Indy 500 has seen in years.

Rosenqvist immediately went side-by-side with Armstrong in what looked like a hopeless bid to catch Malukas by the time they entered the short chute between Turns 3 and 4. Rosenqvist stayed committed around the high side of the speedway and edged ahead at the line in a dramatic photo finish.
“What an incredible finish,” Rosenqvist said afterward. “That’s the way I’ve always pictured it in my head. It almost felt like muscle memory because I’ve been dreaming about that last-lap move.”
For much of the race, Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Honda showed race-winning pace. The 34-year-old had already demonstrated the car’s speed during qualifying week after posting the fastest four-lap average before ultimately starting fourth on the grid.
Rosenqvist admitted the final lap required a level of commitment he had rarely attempted before at Indianapolis.
“I’ve never really gone flat around the outside for an entire lap here,” he said. “You just want it so badly in that moment that you stop thinking about the consequences.”
The Indy 500 win is just the second IndyCar win of Rosenqvist’s career and his first since Road America in 2020. More importantly, it delivers one of the sport’s biggest prizes after years of showing flashes of speed without consistently finding results.
The win also gives Meyer Shank Racing one of the biggest victories in team history and instantly cements the 2026 Indianapolis 500 as one of the most memorable finishes the event has ever produced.
