Anderlecht will be looking for a new head coach this summer. According to HLN, they are keen to keep Jeremy Taravel in the coaching set up, but prefer to move him to an assistant role while bringing in a more experienced head coach. Taravel took over when Besnik Hasi was sacked and Ed Still moved to Watford. He guided Anderlecht to European qualification and to the Belgian Cup Final, where they lost to Union St Gilloise.
Clearly, new Sporting Director Antoine Sibieski is keen to make changes at the club. The side have just a few months before they must start their qualification campaign for the Europa League, so time is of the essence. Key players are set to leave, with youngster Nathan De Cat appearing to bid farewell to the Anderlecht fans during the sides final home game. Thorgan Hazard is also leaving for Ligue 1.
If Anderlecht harbour any aspirations of returning to challenge for trophies in Belgian football, they must get this next appointment right. For too long they have been drifting and rebuilding without ever reaching a point where they look ready to compete with the likes of Club Brugge and city rivals Union St Gilloise. Fans have, understandably, had enough of the inconsistency on and off the pitch. Sibierski has a big job on his hands to rebuild Anderlecht this summer, and it appears that one decision has already been made.
