The NASCAR O’Reilly Series competed at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but it didn’t go as expected. NASCAR had to delay the start due to weather and only completed two stages before calling the race. At the end of the day, it was a JR Motorsports driver who found his way to victory lane on Saturday night.
Ross Chastain and the No. 9 team for JR Motorsports won the Charbroil 300 at Charlotte, earning their first victory of the 2026 O’Reilly Series season. Chastain was leading at the time of the caution, and benefited from one of NASCAR’s most controversial decisions of the 2026 season.

NASCAR decided to run the final 10 laps under caution to finish Stage 2, making the race official. There was no way the green flag could have been thrown due to the track conditions. It may not have been how Chastain expected to win, but he found victory lane on Saturday night.
