The Miami Dolphins gave De’Von Achane a new contract just a few weeks ago, a very smart decision for the new front office and coaching staff.
While the Dolphins aren’t expected to be a very good team this year, and there are even some questions about what their long-term future looks like, there’s no debate that Achane is one of the better running backs and offensive players in general in the entire NFL.
I’m interested to see what Achane looks like in this current offense, though there’s a lot of reason to believe that he can still be an elite player, as it wasn’t like the Dolphins offense over the past two years was exactly great, as they dealt with multiple injuries and never really had stars around Achane.
With all of the moves the Dolphins made this year, including moving on from Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle, and Tyreek Hill, Achane has unfortunately found out what it’s like to play in the NFL.
He even went so far as to say that he could be the next one to end up like that, which is the last thing any Dolphins fan wants to hear right now.
“Just like when somebody gets hurt and it’s just next man up,” Achane said on the May 25 edition of “The Set,” H/T Heavy. “That goes for me too. You already know I don’t need to want to talk and do all that, but now I kind of got to.
“Even if I don’t want to, that’s the position I’m in now. That’s just stuff I have to do now. Like you said, everybody goes, we still got Zach Sieler, but on the offensive side of the ball, it’s only me and [Aaron Brewer].”
If there’s one guy the Dolphins don’t want traded, it’s definitely Achane.
Fans made that relatively known during the offseason prior to him being extended, so hopefully this is him just talking in literal terms rather than possibly hearing something behind his back.
