Germany’s Jamie Leweling posted a mock-up of himself looking like Brazil’s Ronaldo with the famous front fringe after being given the number nine shirt for the World Cup.
The VfB Stuttgart man is a winger, but has been handed the jersey number traditionally associated with strikers for the tournament in North America June 11-July 19.
His Instagram profile photograph on Wednesday shows him resembling Ronaldo, who lit up the 2002 World Cup with his goals and wacky haircut.
The shirt number decision came amid uncertainty over who will start as the main striker for Germany.
Kai Havertz, the most likely candidate, was given number seven while Deniz Undav (26) kept the number he wears for Stuttgart and Nick Woltemade (11) stays in the shirt he has donned in recent times for Germany.
