Former Ohio State receiver retires from the NFL | Buckeyes Wire

It was over before it really ever got started.

Former Ohio State wide receiver Parris Campbell has retired from the NFL at the young age of 28. The Dallas Cowboys announced that the speedster had been placed on the reserve/retired list after he informed the team that he was hanging it up.

Campbell was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2019 NFL draft as a second-round pick but was besieged by injuries. He severely sprained his knee early on in his rookie campaign, shelving him for the remainder of the season, and he only played in 15 games with the Colts in his first three seasons. He had a pretty good year in 2022 in Indianapolis, catching 63 passes for 623 yards and a score, but that would be the pinnacle of his career in the NFL.

After that season, Campbell bounced around between the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and ultimately the Cowboys and played sparingly, and played in just one game in Dallas last season because of another knee injury.

It’s too bad Campbell couldn’t stay on the field with his health, because when he was, he was one of the fastest guys in the League. We wish the Akron native nothing but the best in the next chapter of his life.
