As a lifelong New York Knicks fan who has used this space many times to wax poetic about the team I grew up rooting for, I’m fully aware that this could be a jinx of some sort (careful what you wish for, right?).
But the question remains: With the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder playing Game 6 on Thursday night (and, perhaps, a Game 7 next), who should Knicks fans want in the NBA Finals?
It’s a really tough question and one that I’ve pondered for a couple of days. And I’ve decided to throw caution out the window and write my thoughts. Here’s my argument for each side, along with the definitive answer:
The case for wanting Knicks vs. Spurs
Let’s start with the obvious: The Knicks beat the Spurs twice in the regular season, so that’s good. But the larger argument comes down to one thing for me: Experience.
