When taking in opinions about the NFL, you must be careful where you get your information from. There are analysts who just gab and boast about their “knowledge” but often find themselves to be wrong. You can make an argument that Daniel Jeremiah falls under this category when it comes to scouting. Observe this with a grain of salt, but he just released what he believes to be the winning formula for a Super Bowl team.

Here is the roster foundation any NFL must have if they are to be considered a Super Bowl favorite:
- 1 QB
- 3 offensive playmakers
- 3 quality offensive linemen
- 2 pass rushers
- 3 defensive playmakers
So, to be a competitive team in the NFL, according to Jeremiah, you have to have 5 defensive studs, an almost completely built offensive line, and three weapons on offense. Understood. Can a pass rusher count as a defensive playmaker? Who knows.
Regardless, let’s break down this roster from the perspective of the Minnesota Vikings to see if they do fit this mold of a Super Bowl contender.
- Quarterback: Kyler Murray?
- 3 offensive playmakers: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison? No clear third playmaker
- 3 quality offensive linemen: Christian Darrisaw, Donovan Jackson, Brian O’Neill
- 2 pass rushers: Dallas Turner, no clear second pass rusher
- 3 defensive playmakers: Dallas Turner? Eric Wilson? Jalen Redmond? Caleb Banks?
While the Vikings have a talented roster, I am not sure they have the roster to contend, according to Daniel Jeremiah. There is an influx of youth on this roster, especially on defense, so maybe in a year or two, this roster could fit the mold. But for now, maybe not.
