Leonardo Genoni (EV Zug, Switzerland) stopped all 20 shots he faced on Saturday as Switzerland advanced to its third straight gold medal game with a 6-0 semifinal victory over Norway. Six different Swiss players scored, with Christoph Bertschy (HC Fribourg-Gottéron, Switzerland) getting the go-ahead goal at 17:36 of the first period before the hosts broke the game open in the second period with tallies by Denis Malgin (ZSC Lions, Switzerland), Ken Jäger (Lausanne HC, Switzerland) and Damien Riat (Lausanne HC). Nico Hischier (New Jersey Devils) and Théo Rochette (Lausanne) added markers in the third period as well.

Finland erased a 2-1 deficit after one period with three goals in the second period to secure its first spot in the gold medal game since 2022 with a 4-2 win over previously unbeaten Canada. Captain Aleksander Barkov (Florida Panthers) tied the game at 2-2 just 49 seconds into the second period before Konsta Helenius (Buffalo Sabres) put the Finns in the lead at the 11:28 mark. Patrik Puistola (Örebro HK, Sweden) staked Finland to a 1-0 lead 3:30 into the game and Aatu Räty (Vancouver Canucks) added an insurance marker at 12:50 of the second. 

Sven Andrighetto (ZSC Lions) leads the tournament with 15 points while Hischier’s six goals are tied for second in the event. Riat, Malgin and captain Roman Josi (Nashville Predators) each have five goals. Genoni picked up his third shutout of the tournament on Saturday and enters with a .973 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average. Four players have four goals apiece for Finland, including Puistola, Raty, Jesse Puljujärvi (Genève-Servette, Switzerland) and Anton Lundell (Panthers), with Barkov leading the team with 11 points. Justus Annunen (Predators) comes in with a .925 save percentage and 1.72 GAA.

Switzerland clinched first place in Group A on the final day of group play on Tuesday with a 4-2 win over Finland.
