The Denver Broncos won’t lose a top executive to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.
Broncos assistant general manager Reed Burckhardt did two interviews for the Vikings‘ general manager position, including an in-person interview last month. Minnesota made its decision last week, opting to hire former Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as their new GM.
That’s good news for Denver’s front office because the team was in danger of losing an assistant GM in consecutive offseasons. Last year, Darren Mougey left the Broncos to take the GM job with the New York Jets, and Burckhardt was promoted in Denver to replace him.
Before interviewing Burckhardt, the Vikings were also interested in Broncos GM George Paton, who opted to remain in Denver on a new, five-year contract. Paton and Burckhardt worked together in Minnesota before reuniting with the Broncos, and they are now both set to remain together for at least one more season.
