A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts accomplished a lot during their four years together with the Philadelphia Eagles, reaching two Super Bowls and winning one.

However, that doesn’t mean they were best friends.

While they started out close, the two appeared to grow apart over the last few seasons. Brown seemingly wanted more attention and targets from Hurts, who wasn’t always the best at maximizing Brown’s skill set.

During a recent sit-down interview with Maria Taylor, the three-time Pro Bowler opened up about his relationship with the Eagles quarterback.

“Not as close as we once were,” Brown told Taylor on “7PM in Brooklyn.” “I believe that’s fine. There’s no bad blood. There’s actually still a lot of love… Looking back on it, we haven’t been as close as we were for a couple years now… I got nothing but love for him.”

Brown emphasized that nothing specific happened to ruin their friendship, but that they simply grew apart over time.

That happens, and there’s no rule saying teammates have to be best friends with each other. It can help if they’re close, but they don’t have to be to achieve greatness together, as Brown and Hurts did two seasons ago.

Fortunately, Brown has a great relationship with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Hopefully he can form a close bond with Drake Maye as well, or at least develop a good working relationship with him.
