Washington football picks up crystal ball to land four-star Arizona WR

The Washington Huskies have picked up a crystal ball to land one of their top targets on the recruiting trail, four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson.

On Monday morning, 247Sports’ Blair Angulo logged a prediction for Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff to land the 6-foot-1, 190-pound product of Peoria High School when he announces his commitment on Friday, June 5, from a group of Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, and Washington from his 20 offers. Coming off an official visit to Seattle on May 29, the crystal ball is a great sign that the Huskies made a big impression on the talented prospect.

Ranked as the No. 325 overall prospect and No. 42 wide receiver in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite, Tyson is also scheduled to visit coach Mike Elko and the Aggies on June 12, but if the prediction comes to fruition, he most likely won’t be taking that trip to College Station.

“He really excels on go routes and wide receiver screens and has home run hitting ability,” former 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins wrote in an evaluation of Tyson. “He’s strong in the air with excellent body control and routinely wins 50-50 jump balls. He uses his body well to shield smaller defensive backs and is tough to bring down in the open field. He has strong hands as well and catches the ball through contact.”

Although he was limited to just seven games by injuries during his junior year, Tyson still proved that he has all the physical tools needed to thrive in Jedd Fisch’s offense. His combination of size and speed should help him thrive at several positions as Fisch likes to move his receivers around the formation to give them advantageous matchups.

If the prediction comes true, that would make three blue-chip receivers in the 2027 class for position coach Kevin Cummings, as Tyson would join four-star prospects Braylon Pope and Zerek Sidney.
