NEW YORK – Is this a day-to-day issue, or something that requires an injury list stint?
That’s the question consuming Yankees Universe on this Wednesday, as Aaron Judge (bone bruise, upper right ribcage area) was due to see a specialist about a nagging condition that has lately kept him out of the lineup.
Jose Caballero is back in right field, subbing for Judge for a second straight game. Also, Paul Goldschmidt (home run, double, 4 RBI last night) is back at DH with Ben Rice at first base.
Goldschmidt was dealing with some back tightness Tuesday, moving from first base to DH, but he said he could’ve played defensively if needed.
Here at Yankee Stadium, Gerrit Cole is set to make his third start since coming off the IL (Tommy John surgery rehab) and he’s yet to yield an earned run over his first 12.2 innings.
The Cleveland Guardians will counter with right-hander Gavin Williams (8-3, 3.07), who is coming off a seven-inning, three-hit, one-run victory against the Washington Nationals.
Here is the Yankees’ lineup for Wednesday night:
- Trent Grisham, CF
- Ben Rice, 1B
- Paul Goldschmidt, DH
- Cody Bellinger, LF
- Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
- Jose Caballero, RF
- Ryan McMahon, 3B
- Austin Wells, C
- Anthony Volpe, SS
