Alphonso Davies is expected to make his return from injury in Canada’s crucial World Cup clash with Switzerland.

The 25-year-old has not played since suffering a hamstring issue in the second leg of . “I would like to get him into the match, for sure.

“And I think that he can have a big impact, both on us physically and football wise, but also mentally, psychologically, to have our captain back, our best player back in the team. I think this is a big factor.”

Davies, who can operate in several positions, has won 58 caps for Canada but has not featured for his country since October 2024 due to a string of injuries.

The Bayern star played just 23 times for his club last season and did not make his first appearance of the campaign until December 9.

He started all three of Canada’s games at World Cup 2022 in Qatar, scoring in a 4-1 defeat by Croatia, and will now hope to help his country reach the knockout phase for the first time.
