Brazil vs Norway: World Cup 2026 Preview
Norway head into this mouth-watering last-16 clash with the unusual distinction of holding an unbeaten record against Brazil, winning two and drawing two of their previous four meetings.
Indeed, the sides’ only previous competitive fixture came at the World Cup in 1998, which was Norway’s last appearance at the finals. Tore Andre Flo and Kjetil Rekdal scored late on to cancel out Bebeto’s strike in the final game of the group stage.
Brazil haven’t been firing on all cylinders at this World Cup but they’ve won their last three matches, including their victory from behind against Japan in the last round.
Solbakken and Norway will look to capitalise on their underdog status against the World Cup’s most successful team but the gap between these sides is smaller than ever.
In Haaland, you could make a strong case that the best and most effective player on the pitch is Norwegian. Matheus Cunha and Vinicius Jr have been getting the job done for Brazil too, but it’s Norway that seem to have the bit between their teeth.
With Mexico or England awaiting the winner in the quarter-final, Brazil will seek to avoid exiting the World Cup before the last eight for the first time since 1990.
