Manchester United continue to look towards the future as the club focuses on strengthening Michael Carrick’s first-team squad but also investing in the next generation of talent.
While transfer activity has dominated headlines throughout the summer, significant work has also continued at Carrington.
The club’s academy has long been regarded as one of the finest in world football, producing generations of players who have progressed to represent the first team.
United remain committed to that tradition, ensuring promising youngsters are given every opportunity to develop both on and off the pitch.
That commitment has now been highlighted once again with a major milestone for the club’s latest group of academy prospects.
Manchester United sign 15 players
Manchester United have confirmed, via their website, that 15 academy players have signed their first-year scholarship contracts, officially beginning the next stage of their journeys with the club.
The occasion was celebrated during a special ceremony held in the Manchester Suite at Old Trafford, where family members, friends and academy staff gathered to recognise the youngsters’ achievements.
Former Manchester United defender and academy graduate Wes Brown attended the event, sharing his own experiences of progressing through the club’s youth system and reaching the first team.
Academy director Stephen Torpey also addressed those in attendance, saying, “I feel privileged to carry the baton forward as the next custodian of this football club’s great Academy.”
To mark the occasion, each scholar received a personalised Manchester United shirt featuring their surname and the number 26 on the back, alongside the club’s iconic blazer and several commemorative gifts.
United also sent a message to the new intake, stating, “We would like to wish them the very best of luck on this important step in their careers.”
The club’s new first-year scholars are:
Jaume Camacho Sidos (Midfielder)
Jayce Carrick (Midfielder)
Edson Dejonge-Seiros (Forward)
Harley Emsden-James (Defender)
Idris Fabiyi (Defender)
Jake Ford (Goalkeeper)
Gazimagamed Ibragimov (Defender)
Connor Laurie (Defender)
Harlem McLaughlin (Midfielder)
Camron Mpofu (Forward)
Jodie Nganga (Midfielder)
Samuel O’Brien (Defender)
Kai Rooney (Forward)
Pharell Silvester (Midfielder)
Emmanuel Ziro (Midfielder)
The group will now begin the next phase of their development as they aim to follow in the footsteps of the many academy graduates who have gone on to establish themselves in Manchester United’s first team.
With opportunities continuing to emerge under Carrick, the latest intake will hope this scholarship marks the first step towards one day representing the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
