Manchester United have experienced significant change over the past year, with the club turning the page after a difficult period that ultimately led to a change in the dugout.
Michael Carrick has since steadied the ship, guiding the Red Devils back into the Champions League after an impressive turnaround following his appointment.
Attention has now shifted towards building on that momentum, but one former United manager continues to reflect on his brief spell at Old Trafford.
Just weeks after taking charge of a new club, he has opened up on what went wrong during his time in Manchester.
Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has admitted he made mistakes during his spell at Old Trafford after officially becoming AC Milan’s new manager.
The Portuguese coach has replaced Max Allegri at the Serie A giants, only months after being dismissed by United following a difficult campaign.

Speaking after his appointment, Amorim revealed his disappointment at not getting the chance to properly address Manchester United supporters before his departure.
“The only thing I can say is that I learn a lot and I did some mistakes. I didn’t have opportunity, and I am sorry for that, to say something to the Manchester United fans at the moment.
“I am really proud to have been their coach for a year.”
Earlier in the week, the 41-year-old appeared to take a subtle swipe at his former employers while discussing his decision to accept the Milan job.
“It’s a very big challenge that I accepted even if after the last one (at Manchester United) I told myself to accept a smaller one.”
“Perhaps it is a greater challenge than the last. I’m proud to be here, we all are, me and my staff.”
Amorim’s spell at Old Trafford lasted 63 matches across all competitions, during which he recorded 25 victories, 15 draws and 23 defeats, giving him a win rate of just over 38%.
Despite the disappointing end to his United tenure, Ruben Amorim will now hope to rebuild his reputation in Italy, while Manchester United continue their own new era under Carrick after securing a return to Europe’s top competition.
