Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has many roles in football, including as a club owner.
The former Manchester United star immerses himself in several business opportunities, leading to his status as the first-ever billionaire footballer, which he was recognised as in October 2025.
One involvement Cristiano Ronaldo has away from Al Nassr in football is as a minority owner of UD Almeria. The 41-year-old purchased a 25 per cent stake in the club in February 2026 through his CR7 Sports Investments company.
At the time of purchasing a stake in the club, Ronaldo spoke to the club’s media excitedly about involving himself in the football club, saying, “It has been a longtime ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch.
“UD Almeria is a Spanish club with solid foundations and clear potential for growth.
“I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the club’s next phase of growth.”
The Spanish second-tier side just missed out on a spot in next season’s LaLiga lineup, as Ronaldo missed out on a return to the division he once ruled with Real Madrid.
As the club looks to mount another promotion charge in 2026/27, retaining their players from last season will be important.
In an excellent coup, the club has officially retained Dion Lopy until 2030. The defensive midfielder started 27 games last season, scoring 3 goals and contributing with a further 2 assists, as a huge part of the side’s effort towards promotion, which was narrowly missed out on.
Dion Lopy is at Almeria to stay, which will be music to Cristiano Ronaldo’s ears, as he chases success with his new club.
Hay más Lopy para rato🕺🤩
