Desde el año pasado, 28 vacas cachenas, conocidas como vacas-cabra por su agilidad para moverse por el monte y su dieta, pastan en las 678 hectáreas del monte vecinal de Vincios, en Gondomar (Pontevedra). No están solas: las acompañan cabras y ovejas, que se alimentan entre pinos y eucaliptos. Llegaron después del incendio de 2017, que arrasó el 82% del monte y llevó a la comunidad de vecinos a replantearse su gestión. “No hay otra solución económica ni medioambiental para prevenir los incendios que no sea pasar por el ganado”, resume José Taboada, coordinador del monte vecinal.
