Manchester United’s summer transfer window has taken its next twist with another player signing for the club.
This time that signing falls in the goalkeeper position. United moved in last summer’s transfer window to secure the services of Senne Lammens, who has gone onto become the first-team’s number one choice.
Altay Bayindir remained as Senne Lammens’ back-up last season whilst Andre Onana and Radek Vitek spent the campaign on loan at Trabzonspor and Bristol City respectively.
Andre Onana has since joined Trabzonspor again, on a loan basis, for the 2026-27 season whilst Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Coventry City have all been linked with a move for Radek Vitek.
On the other hand, former United shot-stopper Sam Johnstone has been linked with a move back to Old Trafford (a move that may now be viable following the departure of Onana).
Manchester United confirm signing of goalkeeper
Taking to the club’s official website, Manchester United have now confirmed that goalkeeper Kit Margetson has signed permanently for the club, penning a [insert contract length] contract.
The Red Devils scouted Margetson in March and reports earlier this month suggested that a deal between Swansea City and Manchester United for the goalkeeper was close.
Manchester United said in a statement, “Everyone at United would like to welcome Kit to the club and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”
This is the second goalkeeper Manchester United have signed in this summer transfer window after the signing of Karl Darlow on a free transfer from their rivals Leeds United.
It is now likely that Kit Margetson will spend the majority of his time United’s academy set-up for the upcoming season, in preparation for the move up to the first-team in the future.
