The Buffalo Bills have locked in two-time Pro Bowl running back James Cook with a four-year, $48 million contract extension, including $30 million guaranteed. The deal makes him the seventh highest-paid running back in the NFL.
Commitment to Buffalo
Cook returned to practice after briefly stepping away over contract concerns. His agent, Zac Hiller, said, “James could only envision himself as a Buffalo Bill. We are thrilled this is done.”
Coach Sean McDermott hinted at a resolution but kept details under wraps.
Career Highlights
At 25, Cook is already a standout:
- 16 rushing touchdowns in 2024, scoring in 12 of 17 games
- 2,638 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns since 2022
- 97 receptions for 883 yards and 7 receiving touchdowns
In the preseason opener against the Giants, Cook dressed but didn’t play, letting backups like Ray Davis and Ty Johnson take the field. Frank Gore Jr. led the team in catches with five for 50 yards and 21 rushing yards.
