Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that Endrick’s development at Real Madrid has been slowed down by the presence of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes.
Ancelotti decided not to call up the 19-year-old striker for the final rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, even though he rested a number of key players.
Endrick, who joined Real Madrid with huge expectations, has found it difficult to earn consistent playing time. His last call-up to the Brazil national team came in March, as he continues to battle for regular minutes at Los Blancos.
Last season, the teenager started only three LaLiga matches when Ancelotti was still in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I coached Endrick for a year and really liked him as a person and as a professional,” Ancelotti told ESPN. “Obviously, he didn’t play as much as he could, because Real Madrid had Rodrygo and Vinicius. Competition in a big team is important, and that can affect a player’s progression a little.”
