Mikel Arteta has been cautioned that Arsenal may struggle to win the Premier League with Viktor Gyokeres as their leading striker.
Gyokeres, signed for £64m from Sporting this summer, has scored three goals in ten appearances for the Gunners. While Arteta has defended him, citing his overall contribution beyond goals, some pundits remain unconvinced by his impact in the Premier League.
Two-time Premier League winner Joleon Lescott described Gyokeres as “okay” and suggested Arsenal’s title hopes could be hindered unless their striker reaches top form. Lescott added that while Arsenal may fare well in the Champions League due to rotation and breaks before knockout stages, the consistent weekly performance required to win the league could be a challenge.

Despite concerns, Arsenal have climbed to the top of the Premier League after victories over Newcastle United and West Ham, benefiting from Liverpool’s recent slip in form. Arsenal’s title odds currently stand at 10/11, narrowly ahead of Liverpool at 11/4.
