Bayern Munich have confirmed that coach Vincent Kompany has extended his contract with the German champions until 2029 following an impressive start to the 2025-26 season.
Kompany, who joined Bayern in 2024 on a deal originally running to 2027, guided the club to the Bundesliga title in his first season in charge. Bayern currently sit top of the league with seven wins from seven matches and have won all 11 games across all competitions this season, including a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga Klassiker.
“It feels to me as if I’ve been here much longer already and that I understand the club well,” Kompany said. “So far, it has been a great experience. We have started a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate many more successes.”
Bayern president Herbert Hainer described the extension as a vote of confidence in Kompany’s work and a signal of continuity and stability at the club. “Vincent Kompany is highly valued by the players, the club management, and the fans. We are pleased to be extending our collaboration ahead of schedule,” he said.
Kompany’s coaching career began at Belgian club Anderlecht before he joined Burnley in 2022, achieving promotion from the Championship in his first season despite being relegated the following year. His possession-based, free-flowing football philosophy has been credited with Bayern’s dominant start to the current campaign.
Bayern will host Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday as they continue their pursuit of domestic and European glory.
