Mason Greenwood Could Reunite with Rashford as Barcelona Scouts Monitor Marseille Star

Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood could be set for a sensational reunion with Marcus Rashford at Barcelona, after club scouts were spotted watching him in action for Marseille.

The 24-year-old was in outstanding form earlier this month, scoring four goals during Marseille’s emphatic 6–2 victory over Le Havre — a performance that reportedly left Barca officials highly impressed.

According to sources close to the Catalan club, Greenwood has emerged as a potential summer transfer target, which could see him link up with former United teammate Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona and expected to make his move permanent next summer.

A club insider revealed: “Barca could end up with two of Europe’s hottest strikers for a bargain price.”

If a deal materialises, Manchester United are expected to receive a 50% sell-on fee, thanks to a clause in Greenwood’s transfer agreement with Marseille.

From Manchester to Marseille: Greenwood’s Journey So Far

After leaving Old Trafford in 2023, Greenwood revived his career with LaLiga side Getafe, scoring 10 goals and six assists in 36 games. His performances earned him a £26 million transfer to Marseille, where he has continued to impress — registering 29 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances.

However, reports suggest the forward has struggled to fully adapt to life in France and is believed to be open to returning to Spain or even back to England in the near future.

Rashford’s Barcelona Revival

Meanwhile, Rashford’s career has also taken a new direction after his loan move to Barcelona this season. Having fallen out of favour under new United boss Ruben Amorim, the winger has rediscovered his form in Spain, with the Catalan club preparing a £25 million permanent deal for next summer.

If Barcelona proceed with the Greenwood move, fans could see the two academy graduates reunited at the Spotify Camp Nou, where they previously shone together at Manchester United.

Mason Greenwood’s Career Stats

Manchester United (2018–2024): 35 goals, 12 assists (129 appearances)

Getafe (2023–24, loan): 10 goals, 6 assists (36 appearances)

Marseille (2024–present): 29 goals, 10 assists (47 appearances)
