Amad Diallo Shines Again at AFCON as Ivory Coast Draw with Cameroon

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo continued his impressive Africa Cup of Nations campaign by scoring a stunning goal in Ivory Coast’s 1-1 draw with Cameroon.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring in the Group F clash with a moment of real quality shortly after half-time. Amad collected a long crossfield pass, drove towards the edge of the box, cut inside onto his stronger foot and curled a brilliant strike into the far corner.

Cameroon responded just five minutes later, drawing level through an unfortunate own goal by Ghislain Konan. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winning goal and the match finished all square.

The encounter also saw Amad come up against his Manchester United team-mate Bryan Mbeumo, who featured for Cameroon. Both players have been key figures for their national teams and are enjoying strong seasons at club level.

Amad delivered an outstanding all-round performance, finishing the match with a 95 percent pass accuracy rate and winning every tackle he attempted. His goal against Cameroon was his second of the tournament, having already scored the winner in Ivory Coast’s opening match against Mozambique.

Ivory Coast and Cameroon are both well placed to qualify for the knockout stages, a situation that could delay Amad and Mbeumo’s return to Old Trafford. United manager Ruben Amorim will be hoping for early exits as he looks to regain two important squad members.

Ivory Coast will conclude their group campaign against Gabon, while Cameroon face Mozambique, with both matches scheduled for December 31.
