IT doesn’t get any better for Tottenham. It only gets worse. Far, far worse.
A crisis club locked in a death spiral, Tottenham are now just one point above the Premier League relegation zone after a humiliating 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
In a game that saw Micky van de Ven sent off before half-time, Spurs fans streamed out of the stadium at the interval as their team collapsed to yet another loss. Ismaila Sarr scored twice for Palace, including the penalty from Van de Ven’s reckless foul, with Jorgen Strand Larsen also on target.
First Half Carnage
Spurs had briefly taken the lead through Dominic Solanke after 35 minutes, but the game turned when Van de Ven was shown a straight red card for pulling back Sarr in the box. The Palace forward converted the resulting penalty, and by half-time, Palace were 3-1 up after goals from Strand Larsen and another from Sarr in the eighth minute of added time.
Fans Walk Out
The second half saw vast swathes of empty grey seats in every corner of the ground, with supporters having seen enough. Archie Gray and Solanke continued to fight, but the damage was done.
Relegation Fear
With just four points from their last 11 games, Spurs are looking over their shoulder. New manager Igor Tudor, in charge for just three weeks, has yet to turn the tide, and there are now serious questions about whether this team can avoid the drop.
