Adam Spencer, Exeter City’s Supporter Experience Officer, said: “One of our volunteers told us that this guy had turned up expecting FC Barcelona. His English was limited, but we understood he came from London. He probably followed directions from his phone.”
Spencer added: “He was embarrassed, but we sorted him with a ticket. He enjoyed the game and would be welcome back anytime.”
While the fan watched Exeter City lose 1-0 to Lincoln City, Barcelona played Newcastle United and earned a 1-1 draw. Lamine Yamal scored a late penalty. The fan later said he still considered the day a memorable adventure.
