Alexander Isak Undergoes Surgery After Broken Leg as Liverpool Confirm Injury Blow

Liverpool have confirmed that striker Alexander Isak has undergone surgery after suffering a broken leg during their Premier League win over Tottenham.

The Swedish forward picked up the injury while scoring the opening goal in North London and was forced off shortly afterwards as the Reds went on to secure a 2–1 victory. Medical assessments later revealed damage to his ankle alongside a fracture to the fibula.

In an official club statement, Liverpool confirmed the operation was successful, with Isak now beginning his rehabilitation programme at the AXA Training Centre. However, no definitive return date has been set, raising concerns over his availability for a crucial stretch of the season.

Despite the lack of a timeline, there is optimism within the club that the 26-year-old will feature again before the campaign ends. His absence, though, is expected to sideline him for several key fixtures in both domestic and European competitions.

Isak joined Liverpool in the summer for a club-record fee following his move from Newcastle United, but his start to life at Anfield has been disrupted by form and fitness issues. He has managed just two goals in ten Premier League appearances so far.

With Liverpool facing major clashes against Arsenal and upcoming Champions League fixtures, the striker’s injury could force the club to reassess their options in the January transfer window. Reports suggest the Reds are already monitoring potential attacking reinforcements, including Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, whose release clause becomes active in the new year.

Arne Slot will now need to rely on his remaining attacking options as Liverpool aim to stay competitive on multiple fronts while Isak continues his recovery.
